Culver City Pizza Delivery - Mario's Pizza

I can’t believe the quality of the food for the prices! We even were surprised by a bonus spaghetti that we didn’t order?? Really beautiful salads, breads and wings and the pizza was 👏🏼 so 👏🏼 big 👏🏼 and 👏🏼 delicious. They are so nice and welcoming. This place is an absolute gem.

Coming from the depths of MdR, Mario's is really out of range, but using 90 and Culver when the traffic allowed, I've managed to try this pizza twice, and I liked it both times. The first question is, what kind of pizza is it? The crust is New York thin, and while the outer ring is more chewy than crunchy, there's a bit of crisp to it. Like a NY, the sauce and cheese are rather restrained, but that's where the resemblance ends. Even if you perform the NY fold, there's no way the point holds up, especially on the 18", it's floppy. And although the undercarriage is well done, to use DP's term (the one bite guy), there's no crisp at all. The cheese is also mostly un-browned. So if you ranked this as a NY, the score would be low. DP would slaughter it. On the other hand, this isn't substantial enough to be a standard conventional oven parlor pizza, the crust is too thin, and there's not the requisite lava lake of browned cheese. The outer crust ring is also not as well done. Perhaps that's due to the thin crust, it just can't stay in the oven that long. So, it doesn't compete with my favorites in that class, Johnnie's and Fat Tomato, on Washington That happens to be my style of pizza. It's a passion these days to classify pizza, NY, New Haven, tavern, Neopolitan, etc. etc., but is it important this doesn't quite fit? As you can see below, it's a good looking pizza, and it eats very well. I liked the soft crust ring with a little crunch, and the sauce has a bright tomato taste, really nice. I refreshed the slices under the broiler, and that worked well to add some crust crunch and brown the top. My only complaint is a few of the mushrooms were sliced too thick, and they weren't as evenly distributed as I'd like on the larger pizza. No biggie. As you can see, the larger pizza was more well done, but pizza is variable, and both ate about the same. So I'm giving the full five, an attractive pizza that eats well, about all I can ask for. There is a local shop that makes a very similar pizza, Angel City on Venice. They go out of their way to claim NY status, but no. It's also not as good as this pizza, oily on top, with too much cheese for the thin crust to support, it flopped all over the place to the point of falling apart. Mario's is the better eating pizza, and even though it's not my style, I enjoyed it very much. Access is easy in, but can be very difficult out, you have to back up into Inglewood, not a good idea. Instead, drive up Culver to Stoner, and then west down the alley. You can park on either side of the dumpsters, and it's an easy right back to Culver, or wherever. Note, I re-wrote my original review based on more experience.

Mario's is really outside my range, coming from MdR, although the 90-Culver route almost gets it under the wire. Access is easy getting in, but it can be a monster getting out, you have to back into Inglewood. You might be better off parking in the alley for the minute it takes [see below]. As you can see from the picture (on the left), it's an attractive pizza, and a bit difficult to categorize. The crust, sauce and cheese are almost NY thin, but it's droopy at the point, and the crust ring is soft and chewy, only a little crispy at the edges. That would not be well received by NY fanatics, you can imagine what a certain Evil Corp tube reviewer would say about that, much less the un-browned cheese (he seems to prefer burnt). I'm not a NY fan, I prefer the more substantial standard conventional oven parlor style, and in MdR, Johnnie's and Fat Tomato are my co-favorites, with an (un)healthy blanket of cheese, browned on the top. This does not compare well with that style either. Well, so what, how does it eat? Good, the sauce has a bright tomato flavor, very nice, and the cheese is . . . cheese, it's fine. The mushrooms (and that would be heretical for NY fans) were cut a little thick, and a few weren't done well enough, that's about my only criticism. I enjoyed it, very much, particularly the crust, soft and a little crunchy, well done on the bottom, a nice combination. And even though I like a more substantial pizza, this one didn't strain the old belly (which is soft, and not at all crunchy). Now, how to rate this. On a NY scale, a 4, maybe even a 3, as I said, a NY fan would be all over the crust. As a standard parlor pizza, maybe a 4, I would rather eat a Johnnie's or Fat Tomato. But it's neither of those, and it ate very well, so the heck with it, I have no particular reason not to give it full marks, it has its own style. Some of the mushrooms were too thick? That's not enough. So it gets the 5, a good looking pizza that eats well, I can't ask anything more from a pizza. Note, price didn't enter into it (though it's Culver City low), as I pay MdR rents, and I'm not qualified to care. Note, I stole a slice from tomorrow's breakfast out of the refer. Cold pizza is a class all its own, and this one fared well. There was no oil on the surface, and while the crust was more chewy, it was still pliable. Some crusts can seize up and become leather, not so here. PS: Take a look at Evil Corp street view, see that blue VW? It was still there today, with a flat tire! Given the few parking places available, it might a decent idea to move that thing. You might drive down to Stoner and run back through the alley to Inglewood, parking past the trash bins so your driver's side door will face the alley. Then you could turn right and get back to Culver. Ed: I want to talk a little more about this pizza, as I had a chance to try Angel City (Venice) and discovered it was similar to Mario's, especially in the crust. The crust ring was not as dark as my standard parlor pizzas, presumably because the thin crust isn't in the oven as long. Both crust rings were soft and chewy, but had some crunch. Neither base crust had any crisp to them, and both drooped. The sauces were also similar. I added a picture of the AC for comparison, on the right. But that doesn't mean they're clones, the AC was oily, and the cheese was heavier, which doesn't really fit with the thin crust, it made it messy. I gave AC a 4, and might have gone 3.5, if I had the option, whereas Mario's got the full 5, a better eating pizza. I'll also note Prince Street looks similar on the YT review. I haven't tried that myself, and probably won't, it's out of range. Besides, if I want this kind of pizza, whatever you want to call it, I know Mario's, and it's a 5, in my book. No need to wander.

I asked 2 people, hey...."I'm new to the area and want a good pizza, where do I go?" Each one, not knowing the other, said without hesitation, MARIO'S! So, I went to Mario's and I wasn't disappointed. Great pizza, great price, great services. I had a 1/2 & 1/2, Hawaiian and BBQ chicken. Delicious and enough left over for tomorrow. I love this place!! The cheese pizza and greek salad are so fresh and delicious. It's so rare and awesome to find a place that still operates like a family run business. The delivery guy is so kind and efficient. This is our new go-to. I have never been to the restaurant only take out. Skip the apps and order straight from them.

Doesn't matter where I move to, I'll make the drive here for a large pesto shrimp red onion pizza any day! Tonight we did no onions still taste great! No other place makes it like here at marios. the taste and quality of the food is amazing! The wings!? Don't even get me started they are a must have!

Great ambience, friendly staff, delicious pizza. Mario is an excellent choice for anybody living in the Mar Vista CulverCity area who wants a great pie at a great price. they also offer free delivery, which is a big score! Call them they'll tell you about it

This place is a hidden gem. My favorite is the Linguini Carbonara. This dish is filling and savory. Also don't forget to add some dessert.

The $25 special gets you way more food than any big chain pizza place. Pizza, wings, salad and a 2L soda. Food is great and I’ll be ordering here regularly

Super friendly staff and delicious pizza! While trying to find a pizza place that emulates that of the East coast I found this little place and it did not disappoint. Everything comes out super fast and hot. They take pride in making sure the order is correct (like when we order well done wings). Overall a great experience I’ll keep going back to!

I ordered Pesto pizza and loved it. It was delicious, Marco - the cashier was very friendly and let me practice my Spanish with him ☺️ The place is warm and cozy, so I recommend anyone who is looking for a good pizza in a cozy atmosphere to check this place out.

Our recent visit with my girl was amazing as always, she loves the carbonara, I had Mario primavera, both are so delicious, guys are super nice and friendly, we highly recommend this small spot with a nice indoor and a little patio to enjoy either pasta or pizza, we will definitely go again for more, I'm looking forward to have arugula pizza again, so delicious

Pizza was good....cashier/waitress was excellent, very friendly. Drinks are a little pricey though. 2.50 for a can & 3.99 for a glass bottle. The pizza was fairly priced. The vibe between employees was very good.

My girlfriend loves the carbonara, we have been few other times , and we have never been disappointed, all the pastas are definitely delicious, I tried before the arugula pizza and I really loved it, this visit the lady who took care of us was super nice, friendly, amazing lady , she even gave us a free salad, and we were also talking to the owner , he is a very nice and friendly guy, we will definitely come back again, it's really worth it the 1 hour drive, plus the best part is that anyone can eat pasta or pizza late night. I highly recommend to anyone to try this place, you'll definitely love it.

The supreme pizza is absolutely amazing. The crust is made to eat as well. The service was great, a very nice low key environment to enjoy good quality Italian food.

I went with their SPICY Chicken Wings + Ranch Sauce. Pretty Bomb but, a bit tangy so I would recommend some Garlic Knots to offset the tanginess. It didn't come with Celery or Carrots. Decent amount of meat on the bones and cooked just right. I grabbed myself a Jarritos from their drink cooler. I didn't feel like Pizza tonight. It was about $16- and I gave the lady a $20 and told her to keep the change. I didn't have to but, she didn't look grateful for a 1/4 percentage of the meal. I thought it was fair for someone working in the Service Industry. I feel a SMILE and a nice THANK YOU could have gotten her a $10+ TIP. Place was very Clean. Restrooms Clean and Open for Customers upon asking. There's like 5 spots and a Handicapped Spot out front for Parking. A new Mexican Restaurant is under construction next door otherwise, it's Street Parking. Prices are Decent. They could use some music and maybe another TV besides whatever movie is on the big screen. I will be back later for some Pizza.

Got my first bite of this delicious Pizza Margarita and I’m surprised of how fresh and tasty it is. Only 2 blocks from my home ! Small place with a cozy outdoors seating area. While waiting for my pizza I had an Italian gelato Yummy

Don’t be fooled by the exterior, the food was amazing! We had pasta and pizza and were super happy with both of it. Tasted like real Italian pizza, not greasy at all. Great host and prices. Would recommend!

I STUMBLE ON THIS PLACE ON GRUBHUB. I HAVE TRIED THE PASTA/ ALFREDO, PIZZA. AND THE LASAGNA. MY FAVORITE SO FAR IS THE LASAGNA AND GARLIC BREAD WITH MOZZARELLA. I haven't tried the pizza, but the marinara meatballs and salads are delicious! I didn't expect that from an open late place. The service is also great. Can't wait to try other items in their menu.

I just ordered and they delivered it much earlier than previously estimated. The delivery guy was super nice and my food was nice and hot still. All of the ingredients are extra fresh. I got a small pepperoni with jalapenos and mushrooms and the ingredients weren't greasy and it even felt light, as light as a pizza can get. I definitely recommend! PLUS you get to support your local pizza shop and they offer free delivery. SCORE!

Wow first time ordering, so grateful they are 2 blocks away. I put an order in online w special instructions and they called to make sure they got it right, it showed it so fast and cooked to perfection. they even gave me a free slice of chocolate cake as if they knew its my fave . i tipped via the online order and wish i would have left more. so stoked on finding a new pizza spot, im so picky!!! my needs are: thin crust, light sauce, proper cheese. Came here on a vacation from NYC and I just had to order some LA pizza. NYC is known for its delicious pizza and I felt back at home eating their margherita pizza. I also ordered the korean wings which are a must have !!!! The wings were so delicious and I can't even order something like this back in NYC

Wowoweewow the food here is amazing! I've tried a few of their pizzas (dough is incredible!), salads and roasted veggies appetizers and can't get enough! Cute little shop that delivers quality food at a fair cost. If you're in the area and are craving pizza, do check them out! If you're into mushrooms, you HAVE TO try the Wild Mushroom and Truffle Ricotta! You won't regret it (ordered it 3 times in the past month :x )

The location is across the street where we live and we wanted something different and puzzle why the personal size pizza was a little pricey. After taking my first bite and now I know why, because you can tell the ingredients are so fresh. I am not big on thin crust pizza, but wifey loves thin crust and have to say pizza damn good! We order online and they come out to the car and bring the pizza out to you. Definitely we order more in the future and good thing it's a small business family own which is awesome. Total price for both pizzas with tax $35.04 and well worth it.

Their Cheese pizza is our favorite!!!! Come here once a week. Wednesday wing special is also my favorite. We like plain with ranch.

Hands down the best pizza in Los Angeles, CA. I've tried a dew of their thin crust pizzas and they're all delicious. And the crust is just perfect.

Very nice and friendly staff. The actual restaurant feels very homey. The portion sizes are a bit too big, but it would be better if you shared your meal with someone. Would highly recommend the bow tie pasta, which is what my friends and I usually order from here.

Had Mario's for the first time yesterday. Ordered a BBQ Chicken and a Margherita and they were delivered in less than 30 minutes, piping hot. Both pies were delicious!

I had a pizza delivered last night and it was one of the best pies I've had since moving to LA over 6 years ago. I've lived in both the East Coast and Midwest which are great places for pizza. Mario's is doing something right. Buy their pizza.

We ordered two slices of cheese and two of pepperoni but they only had 3 of those 4 slices so they just made us our own half cheese half pepperoni medium pizza. Super friendly service. Highly recommend.

This is the second time we’ve ordered and it won’t be the last. The space they are in is right around the corner and we have seen it as a coffee shop and juice bar, amount other things. I really hope they stay in business because we needed a good pizza place locally. Their pizza is tasty and their salads are fresh. The staff is friendly and helpful too. Their menu is going in the drawer for next time.
